The first engineering sample of the Elbrus-16S microprocessor was received

MCST Company presented the first completely domestic processor with a 16-nanometer process technology.

“Elbrus-16S” is a promising microprocessor with the “Elbrus” architecture of the 6th generation. JSC “MCST” is developing it with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, with completion in 2021.

Processor “Elbrus-16S” – a system on a chip (SoC), which contains 16 computing cores with a total capacity of 1.5 TFlops single precision and 750 GFlops double precision, 8 memory channels
DDR4-3200 ECC, onboard 10 and 2.5 Gb / s Ethernet controllers, 32 PCI-Express 3.0 lanes, 4 SATA 3.0 lanes. It will support multiprocessing up to 4 processors with a common
RAM up to 16 TB. The total number of transistors in the processor will be 12 billion.

The developer notes that this processor should become the first in Russia in several ways. This is the first 16 nm processor designed in Russia and based on Russian
technologies, with hardware support for virtualization, nominally operating at 2 GHz, with the implementation of 8 DDR4-3200 ECC channels.

The development of the microcircuit began in 2018 in Moscow. Currently, a study of the resulting engineering sample is underway. In particular, the operating system “Elbrus

Confirmation of readiness for serial production is expected at the end of 2021. The processor will meet the requirements for Russian integrated circuits of the 2nd level within the framework of the decree
