The names of the participants in the first ever collective tourist flight to the International Space Station (ISS) will be announced early next year. This information, as reported by RIA Novosti, was disseminated by the press service of Roscosmos.
The final contracts for the simultaneous delivery of two non-professional cosmonauts to the ISS were signed about a month ago. Tourists will go into space in the Russian manned spacecraft Soyuz. The trip is organized by Roskosmos and Space Adventures.
“According to the agreement with the Space Adventures company, which specializes in space tourism, the launch will take place with the participation of two tourists. The launch is scheduled for the end of 2021. Travelers’ names will be announced early next year“, – said the state corporation Roscosmos.
An experienced cosmonaut – the spacecraft commander – will go to the ISS together with the tourists. The cost of “tickets” for travelers has not been specified. Previously, tourists who visited orbit paid for an unforgettable flight from 20 to 35 million US dollars.
We add that the Rocket and Space Corporation “Energia” S.P. Koroleva (part of Roskosmos) and Space Adventures have already signed a contract to send two more tourists to the ISS. One of them will make a spacewalk for the first time in history: it will happen in 2023.
