The State Corporation Roscosmos informs that the State Commission has made a decision to take the Proton-M rocket to the launch complex of the site No. 200 of the Baikonur cosmodrome.
The carrier is to launch into space the Russian telecommunication satellites Express-103 and Express-80. These devices of the middle class were manufactured by the Academician MF Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems Company (ISS). The satellites are designed to provide fixed and mobile services, digital TV and radio broadcasting, high-speed Internet access, as well as data transmission in the Russian Federation and the CIS countries in the C-, Ku- and L-bands.
It is reported that the “Proton-M” rocket with the “Briz-M” upper stage and the named communication devices should be launched on Thursday next week, July 30. The launch will take place at 00:27:42 Moscow time.
It should be noted that initially the launch of the Express-103 and Express-80 satellites into orbit was planned in March this year. However, inspections revealed a manufacturing defect in the Proton-M rocket, and the launch had to be postponed first to May and then to the end of July.
We add that the Proton rocket was developed by the Khrunichev Center in the 60s of the last century. During its commercial operation, the launch vehicle went through several stages of modernization and was adapted for launching spacecraft of almost all types according to various injection schemes.
