A Reddit user under the pseudonym Imnimo posted a graph showing the lifespan and cause of death of all characters in his playthrough of Crusader Kings III.
Imnimo did not extract the necessary data manually, but with the help of “Simple script”, which recorded the date of birth and death of the heroes, as well as the main reason for their untimely death.
The fact is that the characters of Crusader Kings III at the time of departure to another world may have several potentially fatal health penalties. The Imnimo script chooses the most serious of them – for example, bubonic plague in the presence of depression.
In total, Imnimo identified ten potential causes of death: childbirth, imprisonment, genetics, murder, psyche, injury, illness, war, natural causes, and everything else (for example, eating carp).

Judging by the graph, the three most “popular” ages of death are infancy (newborns are extremely vulnerable to disease), adulthood (war, injuries) and old age (after 60 years).
Natural death overtook over 35% of all characters in Imnimo: several particularly healthy mayors managed to survive their 100th birthday, although the enthusiast considers this to be a bug. The graphs for the separate female and male genders can be found here.
Crusader Kings III was released on September 1 this year exclusively on PC (Steam, Windows 10). Since its release, the game has steadily stayed in the weekly Steam sales chart, but dropped out of the top 10 by the end of the first month.
