It became known that the Ust-Katavsky Carriage Works (UKVZ), which is part of the state corporation Roscosmos, will release the first unmanned tram in 2022. This was reported by the TASS news agency with reference to the words of the Director General of the UKVZ Roman Novikov.
“The terms of reference is ready. The components are clear to us. It remains to purchase and apply. We will do it in 2022, most likely, but there will be long-term tests, because the system will be tuned and refined.“, – said Mr. Novikov. The head of the enterprise also noted that the development of an unmanned system within the framework of placement and connection to the tram has already been fully completed.
Recall that at the beginning of last year, the general director of UKVZ Roman Novikov told reporters that the company had reached preliminary agreements on organizing a tramway at the Vostochny cosmodrome. At the same time, it was said that it was planned to use five-section low-floor tram cars to transport people. The manufacturer will be engaged in maintenance of unmanned trams.
For the first time, the possibility of implementing such a project became known in mid-2019. Dmitry Rogozin, General Director of the Roscosmos state corporation, spoke about the consideration of such a project and the possibility of its implementation at the facilities of the UKVZ during a lecture at Moscow State University.
