The Soyuz ST-A rocket with the UAE satellite, after a number of delays, launched from the Kuru cosmodrome

The State Corporation Roscosmos informs that today, December 2, 2020, at 04:33:28 Moscow time, the Soyuz-ST-A launch vehicle with the satellite of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was successfully launched.

The rocket launch was postponed several times due to technical issues and unfavorable weather conditions. Today the carrier with the Fregat-M upper stage and the Falcon Eye 2 spacecraft was launched from the Kourou cosmodrome in French Guiana.

It is noted that all stages of the flight took place in the normal mode. So, 8 minutes 48 seconds after the launch, the head unit as part of the upper stage and the spacecraft separated from the third stage of the rocket. After that, “Fregat-M” successfully carried out the launch of the satellite into a given orbit: Falcon Eye 2 separated from the upper stage 58 minutes after launch.

Falcon Eye 2 is a UAE military satellite for reconnaissance purposes. In addition, the spacecraft will survey the Earth’s surface as part of various commercial projects.

We add that Roscosmos is responsible for the implementation of the Soyuz program at the Guiana Space Center on the Russian side and coordinates work with domestic enterprises in the rocket and space industry involved in the program.
