First laptop powered by Intel’s experimental 5-core processor® Core ™, codenamed “Lakefield”, appeared in Russian retail. This device is the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold, which has another unique feature – it is the world’s first laptop with a flexible screen.

Sales of Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold will begin in the coming days, it will be possible to buy the new product through the company’s official online store, or in the M.Video chain of stores. Due to its futuristic and unusual nature, the price of the laptop is 330 thousand rubles. It is due to the fact that we are talking about a premium status device, which is released in limited edition.

A key feature of the ThinkPad X1 Fold is that its 13.3-inch, 2048×1536 OLED touchscreen not only occupies its usual place, but also extends further – to the surface where the keyboard is usually located. At the same time, the screen is flexible – it can be folded due to the hinge hidden in the laptop case made of carbon fiber.

The device has good mobility and autonomy. The laptop weighs 999 g, its folded dimensions are 236x158x28 mm. The battery capacity reaches 50 W ∙ h, it is enough to maintain operation for 8-10 hours. Fast Charging allows you to recharge your battery up to 80% in just one hour.

For convenience, the ThinkPad X1 Fold can be supplemented with a stylus or Bluetooth keyboard. The device can also be equipped with an optional 5G communication module, but it also supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 and 4G LTE as standard.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold is based on a rare and original platform – an energy-efficient heterogeneous Intel Core i5-L16G7 Lakefield processor. This 10nm processor has five dissimilar cores: one large (performance) Sunny Cove core and four small (energy efficient) Tremont cores. The base frequency of the processor is set at 1.4 GHz, the maximum is set at 3 GHz. The joint work of dissimilar cores is controlled by Intel Hybrid Technology, which distributes the load. The thermal package is limited to 7 W. The processor also includes an 11th generation 500 MHz graphics core consisting of 64 EUs.

Codenamed “Lakefield” Intel Core processors use Foveros layout technology to stack multiple semiconductor crystals in layers. Thanks to this, the Core i5-L16G7 also includes a SoC and 8 GB LPDDR4X-4266 memory, assembled into a single chip with a size of 12 × 12 × 1 mm.

The ThinkPad X1 Fold comes with a 512GB solid state drive preinstalled with Windows 10 Pro.
