Canadian studio Compulsion Games was acquired by Microsoft in 2018 and integrated into Xbox Game Studios ahead of the release of the action RPG We Happy Few. The next project of the developers is kept secret and requires a lot more human resources.
LaPresse announced that Compulsion Games is moving from its current headquarters in San Henri, Montreal to Westmount. The new office will allow the studio to accommodate up to 120 developers. Since the acquisition, Compulsion Games has expanded from 40 to 60 employees. It plans to grow to around 90 developers over the next 18 months.
The move to the new office is planned for December 2020 or January 2021, if it is safe from the point of view of the risks associated with coronavirus. Interestingly, Compulsion Games will be located next to Cloud Chamber, Take-Two Interactive’s new studio, which is working on the next BioShock.
As we learned late last year, Compulsion Games’ next game is still going to be weird. “We were told to keep making really weird, different games.”Community manager Naila Hadjas said in the documentary The Price of Joy.
