Undertale creator talks about Deltarune development – chapter 2 is almost ready

Game designer and composer Toby Fox on the official Undertale website shared details about the development of Deltarune, the sequel to the acclaimed 8-bit RPG.

Recall that the events of Deltarune unfold in a new world, and the game itself is divided into parts (chapters). The first one was released at the end of October 2018 (PC) and was free, while the second episode will have to be paid for.

Fox said he finished plotting all the episodes a few months ago. I took up the second chapter only in May 2020 – before that I spent 99% of my time looking for alternatives to the GameMaker engine.

“Development has progressed a lot since then. I think that in terms of content, we can complete this chapter by the end of the year (not counting translations, bug fixes and porting) “Fox said.

Deltarune Chapter 2 is in production “At a good pace” – it is her team that is going to use as a basis for the next releases, which should simplify their creation.

In total, four people are working on Deltarune, including Fox (he has suffered from severe pain in his wrist in recent months). Currently, the game designer has no plans to expand the team, but wants to make a list of people who could be contacted for help.

The first chapter is available for free on PC, PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Unlike Undertale (she turned five yesterday) with its written main character, the protagonist of Deltarune can be created by yourself.
