Volkswagen to work with Microsoft to accelerate the development of automated driving

Volkswagen AG has announced a partnership with Microsoft to accelerate the development of automated driving solutions. As part of the partnership, Car.Software Organization, a software company, will partner with Microsoft to create a cloud-based Automated Driving Platform (ADP) based on Microsoft Azure.

With the cloud platform, the Car.Software Organization will simplify development in Microsoft Azure and leverage its computing and data processing capabilities to drive automated driving even faster.

With ADP based on Azure, the Car.Software Organization will strive to improve the efficiency of developing advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS and AD functions) for passenger cars of all Volkswagen Group brands.

According to Scott Guthrie, executive vice president of Microsoft Cloud + AI, the power of Microsoft Azure and its compute, data processing and artificial intelligence capabilities will enable Volkswagen to deliver safer, more reliable automated driving solutions to its customers faster.

Microsoft Azure services, as well as Microsoft’s agile software development know-how, will help create a unified development environment for Car.Software Organization developers. ADP can help you reduce your software development cycle from months to weeks, and effectively manage large amounts of data.

Volkswagen and Microsoft have been strategic partners since 2018 to develop a dedicated Volkswagen Automotive Cloud platform that will provide the automaker with digital mobility services, testing and automated driving capabilities.
