International Data Corporation (IDC) has summed up the research of the Russian printing equipment market – printers of various types, copiers and multifunctional devices with scanner functions.

It is reported that against the background of remote work and distance learning, residents of the Russian Federation began to buy more equipment for printing. In the period from July to September inclusive, about 811 thousand printers, copiers and MFPs were sold in Russia, which is 11.7% more compared to the third quarter of last year.

At the same time, in monetary terms, the industry contracted by 3.9% to USD 183 million. The average price of the device is down 14% year over year.

In the segment of laser technology, supplies increased by 14.3% in piece terms, but in monetary terms, sales fell by 3.3%. The inkjet equipment sector showed an increase in unit terms by 6.2% and a decrease in monetary terms by 6.3%.

Unlike Q2, when product availability by vendors was heavily impacted by factory closures and / or job cuts in factories in Asia due to the COVID-19 outbreak, product availability improved in Q3 2020, enabling vendors to ramp up supply and basically satisfy the current and pending withpros, ”analysts say.
