A few months ago, Mark Cerny mentioned the PlayStation 5’s ability to provide instant access to certain game components. Now, thanks to the developer of the WRC 9 racing simulator, the name of the function and its practical application have become known.
As GameReactor Spain reported in an already deleted article, during the WRC 9 presentation, Game Development Lead Alan Jarniou and Product Manager Sebastien Waxin revealed that the feature will be called Activities. Thanks to the speed of the SSD media, players will be able to instantly race right from the PlayStation 5 menu. Other parts of the project will also be available.
Notably, WRC 9 on PlayStation 5 will play in native 4K resolution at at least 60fps, improved physics and simulation, and high-resolution textures.
PlayStation 5 will offer its users very fast downloads. But Sony wants to go further and, in principle, save players from unnecessary actions. Activities do just that. It will work in both single and multiplayer games. For example, you can instantly jump into a match as the project will keep the console updated on which servers are free. Of course, this feature will only be available if developers choose to support it.
PlayStation 5 will be released this fall closer to the pre-New Year season.
