Xiaomi is preparing a premium smart speaker XiaoAI Smart Speaker

The Chinese company Xiaomi unveiled a teaser image, talking about the imminent release of the new “smart” speaker XiaoAI Smart Speaker with an intelligent voice assistant.

It is reported that the device will be made in a metal case. Thus, observers believe, the company is eyeing the premium-level smart speaker segment.

The characteristics of the upcoming news are not reported. But it can be assumed that the device will provide high-quality sound and receive an array of microphones for picking up voice commands from various directions. Users will be able to interact with XiaoAI’s proprietary intelligent assistant.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi reported that to date, the total sales of smart speakers with XiaoAI voice assistant has exceeded 22 million units. The company’s assortment has very inexpensive smart speakers – for example, Redmi XiaoAI Speaker Play, which costs only about $ 10.

According to Strategy Analytics, in the first quarter of this year, 28.2 million smart speakers were sold worldwide. This is 8.2% more than in the first quarter of last year.
