The president of the mobile devices division of ZTE Ni Fei announced that the company will soon announce a second generation smartphone equipped with a front camera hidden directly behind the display.
Recall that it was ZTE that released the world’s first commercial device with a sub-screen selfie camera. It was the Axon 20 5G smartphone, which debuted in September last year. It is equipped with a 6.92-inch Full HD + display, which hides a 32-megapixel camera.
Mr. Fei did not go into details about the characteristics of the upcoming device. Obviously, the performance of the sub-screen camera will improve. The fact is that the quality of the selfies generated by the Axon 20 5G device raises fair criticism.
Rumor has it that the camera hidden behind the display will receive the Axon 30 smartphone. This device is credited with the presence of the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor with the Adreno 660 graphics accelerator and 5G modem.
It should be noted that other well-known manufacturers are also designing devices with a sub-screen selfie camera. Apparently, similar devices under various brands will appear this year.
