Nintendo Direct E3 2021: All the announcements and how to watch it again

Nintendo streamed an online presentatiion during E3 2021 on Tuesday 15 June.

It focused on software only with just one surprise hardware announcement (although no Switch Pro, sadly), but there were plenty of cool game trailers and more.

Here then is how to watch the Nintendo Switch stream again (or catch-up for the first time), plus all the highlights – including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2.

How to watch the June Nintendo Direct again

You can watch the video at the top of this page.

It is also available on Nintendo UK’s YouTube channel.

What was announced

There was plenty of news on game releases coming later this year and beyond. Plus, a new NIntendo Game & Watch for Zelda fans. Here are our highlights:

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2

Breath of the Wild 2 is unlikely to be its name come release (Nintendo calls it “the sequel to Breath of the Wild” at present), but we don’t really mind what it ends up as. There’s still no release date neither, bar “2022”. This teaser trailer will have to do for now.

Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda

Similar to the special Mario edition released at the tail end of 2020, the Legend of Zelda model will feature a colour screen and four games – three retro Zelda titles and a new spin on a Game & Watch classic. It’ll be available from 12 November.

Metroid Dread

We can’t count how many times we’ve written about a new Metroid game over the years. Finally, we’ll get one on 8 October.

Mario Party Superstars

After a great entry in the series – Super Mario Party – we’re getting a mash up of the best of the former games so far. All the best boards and mini-games will appear in Mario Party Superstars, coming 29 October.

WarioWare: Get it Together!

Speaking of mini-games, a new WarioWare is coming to Switch on 10 September. Two players will be able to play on the same screen using a Joy-Con each.

Advance Wars 1+2: Reboot Camp

Two classic 3DS stratgy games on the Switch for the price of one? Yes please.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania

After the slightly disappointing Banana Blitz HD, we’re hoping this return of classic courses will bring Super Monkey Ball back into the fray.

Life is Strange Remastered and True Colors

The latest Life is Strange – True Colors – is coming to Switch, along with the remastered collection of the originals.

Shin Megami Tensei V

Exclusive to Switch, Shin Megami Tensei V will be available from 12 November.

Just Dance 2022

Yep, it’s back!

Also announced during the event was Strange Brigade, which is available now, a new Hyrule Warriors expansion, Doom Eternal DLC in the shape of Ancient Gods Pt 1, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, and new footage of Mario Golf: Super Rush.

There were other games shown too. For the full line-up, check out the video at the top of this page.
